Oikawa Tooru was in good spirits today. His reasons? Most likely because (y/n), the girl he had been pining since middle school has finally accepted his confession. Not only that, but she began to acknowledge him more and open up to him more. She had been smiling more at his stupid jokes and attempts to catch her eye. She returned ~most~ of his hugs, mostly when she wasn't on the spot. And after paying the excruciatingly challenge of trial and error, he eventually got to get her to blush and yesterday, they went on their first date. (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

The messy-haired boy walked in a leisurely way down the hall with his hands shoved in his pockets, he spotted a peculiar event occurring in the courtyard outside. He peered through the glass door that led to the location, hoping not to get caught. The scene before him made him squint his eyes, (y/n) was laughing and smiling with Iwaizumi, seeming to be having a quite the enjoyable conversation, much to Tooru's dismay. But the part of this whole ordeal that made him even more uncomfortable was that there was an apparent bee near you, or some sort of bug making a buzzing noise, making you jump up into Iwaizumi's arms, which Tooru's best friend had no problem with that action. He knew that (y/n) was his, but sometimes, he felt as Iwaizumi challenged it, even though he knew that his spiky-haired friend wouldn't. Would he?

Without making a sound, he inaudibly opened the door and hid behind a nearby shrub.

"Whoa hey, you ok there, (y/n)?" He said, smiling inwardly to himself as he reluctantly set her down.

"Yeah, I'm fine now! Thank you from saving me from that scary bee, Iwaizumi-kun!" She said as she smiled brightly.

"Why're you out here in the first place, though?" He said as he stuffed his hands into his pockets casually.

"Oh! This is my free period so I decided to get some fresh air and away from that drama in there, especially because..." You continued to ramble on and on about how your friend had a new boyfriend she didn't like and how the new history teacher is a piece of work and different things like that. All the while Iwaizumi stood there and listened to you with a soft smile on his face. You and Iwaizumi had been close friends longer than Tooru even knew you, and that did not tickle his fancy. And at that very moment, a brand new emotion was introduced to the setter.

       The powerful feeling of envy.

SECOND POV.

Now, the afternoon finally settled in as sun began to go down. Both you and Tooru were currently at your house, 'studying' for the new history exam that was coming up. Truth was, this was one of the first times that there was silence. The only sound that was heard was your younger siblings fighting upstairs upon who got to play on the WiiU. And not only that, but an unsettled expression was on Tooru's face, which made you want to say something comforting, but you honestly didn't know what.

       "Hey, (y/n)..."

(Y/n) looked up from her lap, slightly happy that the awkward silence was broken and intrigued upon what he had to say, but worried that the stiff air hadn't gone away.

       "Hmm?" You answered in reply

Tooru simply let out a long breath as he got up from his spot on the other couch and took a new one next to you. You stiffened as you felt a pair of arms envelop themselves around you as a Tooru nuzzled his head into the crook of your neck.

"Whaa- I.." You were at a loss for yours as he continued his actions and held you closer, your heart racing.

Oikawa sighed once more and finally looked up at you, keeping his arms locked around you, "Do you like Iwa-chan more than me?"

       "Pardon?"

"You're always talking to him and you seem like you enjoy his company more than mine, (y/n)-chan. Do you like him more?" He asked with a faltered gaze.

You smiled at his jealousy as you returned his embrace, "Tooru, I love you. Hajime and I are just friends, ok?"

That was enough for Tooru to hear, he quickly leaned in and placed a short, but sweet kiss on your lips as you lightly smiled into the action, whilst returning it. As you two pulled away, Tooru gave you a genuine smile, which was rare for him, as only you and Hajime knew, and you both leaned back in for a more passionate one.

I really like how instead of doing what lots of fabric writers do and being like "they were siblings/cousins all along" or "Okiawa was so jealous that they got into a huge fight!" you acknowledged that, yes, people can be friends with people that belong to the gender they are attracted to and, yes, if you are jealous or insecure about something you should talk it out calmly with your partner. Such a breath of fresh air! *inhales deeply only to choke on the smell of sweaty boys with way too little deodorant*
